(NYT43) NEW YORK -- Feb. 13, 2003 -- TERROR-MEMORIES -- About a year ago, 30 interviewers armed with tape-recorders and resolute curiosity fanned out across New York City, seeking true-life stories of 9/11. The 449 accounts they came back with, on more than 400 hours of tape, captured the horror, and sometimes, the spiritual transcendence of those days. Amy Starecheski transcribing tapes for Columbia University's 9/11 Oral History Narrative and Memory Project on Jan. 31, 2003. (Ruby Washington/The New York Times)
