(NYT45) HEMPHILL, Texas -- Feb. 6, 2003 -- SHUTTLE-DEBRIS-SCENE -- Since the breakup of the space shuttle Columbia, Hemphill, Texas, has been a center of search activity by officials and local residents. A.L. and Marcell Harper, 69, above, with his wife Marcell, and Jim Schneider, below, said Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, that they had seen debris splash into the nearby Toledo Bend Reservoir.
