(NYT22) NEW YORK -- Jan. 2, 2003 -- DIVORCE-SECOND-HOMES -- For some divorcing couples, dividing up the marital assets can hit a snag when it involves the cherished second home, with neither spouse willing to cede it to the other or endure the pain of having to sell it off to a third party. So they attempt what many would consider the impossible: Sharing ownership of a house long after the marriage has been dissolved. Mary Alice Kellogg, shown reflected in a mirror, eventually bought a former husband's interest in this Hamptons weekend home in Sag Harbor, Long Island, that they had shared.
