Smoothed X-ray image of the Perseus cluster reseambles a scary Halloween pumpkin. The colours represent variations in the intensity of the X rays, with white being the most intense, to red being the least.
Spooky Space: Scary Sights Spotted In Space
With Halloween creeping around the corner it seems the spookiest sights are in the SKIES.
These images show some of the most unsettling glimpses of our galaxy captured by NASA astronomers.
The most horrifying is a huge scary pumpkin floating in space, in fact an X-ray image of the Perseus cluster.
Also terrifying telescope watchers are the scary eyes and ghostly face of the area surrounding the stellar cluster NGC 2467.
Elsewhere, a "monster" is seen lurking behind a blanket of cosmic dust by the Spitzer Space Telescope, an unusual, ghostly green blob of gas appears to float near a normal-looking spiral galaxy and the Crab Nebula seems to be haunted by a scary blue ghost.
On the up-side, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory seemed to have captured what appears to be a giant smiley face on the sun - or is it WORRIED?
