2000 Ukraina Czernobyl Elektrownia atomowa Prezydent Leonid Kuczma fot Valery Solovyov/UPG/REPORTER Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma looks the his watch after he made a note in the working journal of the Station on December 14, 2000, on the Chernobyl APS. On the very same day, a day before the CAPS closure Kuchma visited CAPS and Slavutich - town, built for the station's personnel. During his meeting with the Stations' workers Kuchma assured that "nobody, who worked on the CAPS will set aside, as, it is evident, that the button pressing does nor solve the problems". On Friday , December 15, 2000 at 13.15, at the command of the Ukrainian President the CAPS 3rd energy unit re-actor was stopped.
