When he can't sleep at night, Avedon goes through a box of
photographs of friends and family that he keeps at his bedside. With his famous photographs of Marilyn Monroe peeking around the corner and Ringo Starr and Kafka watching from overhead, among others, he gets a
phone call from a friend and laughs during the conversation. He sometimes views contact sheets with a magnifying glass. He lives and works out of his upper East Side townhouse in New York City.
