October, 2017, Puerto Rico After Hurricane Maria. Jose Alexis Carrasquillo 62 years old went to a shelter, but it was too crowded and didn't have water. Here he sits in his destroyed house. He himself is a contractor and was expanded his house just before Hurricane Maria. He said, "I can rebuild, I just need electricity, the power infrastructure was badly damaged and will take months to get it repaired. FEMA has not come yet, only local volunteers to give him food and water. Our mayor has not shown his face to us, we feel abandoned." It would cost him $35k to rebuild and $80-90k from a contractor. Jose also check in on his neighbor, an old single woman who refused to leave during the hurricane San Isidro, Puerto Rico 10_17.
