A mother bear lovingly play fights with her cub on a beach. The baby grizzly paws at its parent's face and even bites her ear.
The pair played together for a few hours before going off to fish in the river. These adorable photos were taken in Katami National Park, Alaska, by stay-at-home mum Nadia Huq. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.

I visited Katmai National Park in Alaska in August 2022 to photograph coastal brown bears.
2. What was it like to witness these moments?
I was filled with nervous excitement when we spotted this mother with a spring cub on the beach. This was extra special because it was my first time seeing a mom and a cub together, and I was very relieved that the duo was not bothered by my presence.
3. How did you capture the shots? Were you waiting for a while and did they mind your presence?
I was in a small group of photographers and we took a long time to approach the bears. We would take a few steps and then stop moving and give them more time to be okay with us before getting closer again. We sat down on the beach maintaining a safe distance and I took my images with a 600mm lens. I made sure my images were from eye-level. I just kept shooting at fast frame speed to capture all the antics of the cub. I spent a few hours observing them until the mother left the area with the cub in tow, to fish in the river.
6. What is your favourite thing about the shots?
Since I am a mother to a young boy, I could immediately empathize with the mother bear who looked tired, and sleepy, and just wanted to rest but had to be patient with her energetic cub. It was an emotional experience to see the bond between a parent and a child in these images.
