International Zone, Mediterranean Sea, Decembre 11th 2017 Rim (24), from Syria: "I left Syria in 2011 and went to Libya with my husband. They told us that there was work there, that things would improve with Kadhafi's death. My house had been destroyed. At the time, I only had one child aged 7 months. We flew accross Lebanon by car, then took a plane to Cairo and it took us 3 days to reach Libya. At that time, we were good, there was work and we lived well for 2 years. My husband was a building painter. I was a hairdresser. My husband's family was living with us but mine was still in Damascus. In Libya I had 2 more children. Things started to deteriorate: one day, we were in the car, armed people stopped us, got us to leave the car and left us on foot. I had 2 kids, we stayed in the middle of the road alone in the night. We decided to move to another city. But there they didn't pay my husband. When he asked for money they put a gun on his head. One day he reported them to the police but a few days later they came to stab him in the leg. To continue working he had to pay. We finished our money. We went to get a boat. I prayed... I was so scared for my children on this boat... but I was more afraid of Libya than of the sea. There were 16 of us on a very small wooden boat. When we arrived, the sea was turbulent, we saw a Libyan ship and asked for help without success. A big red and white boat came to save us. I think they were Italians. I just want to be safe with my kids and give them a good life, that's all".
