In creating Pololeti the government expelled large numbers of Maasai and annexed prime grazing land to create an exclusive game reserve for the Dubai royal family, a move that the government said was necessary for conservation. Pololeti used to belong to 14 villages and more than 70,000 people were displaced (this is a conservative number based on the census from 2018) Ãł it’s likely much higher.
