Lud Rohingya w Bangladeszu - Redux

A narrow passage in BaluKhali camp. Everything visible in the frame was made by refugees. City of villages: the world's largest refugee camp, in one year In close to one year, Rohingya have gone from stunned and disoriented refugees on the move to creating a mega-camp with the population of a small city and some form of stability and normalcy. In their new situation in Bangladesh, hundreds of thousands have constructed homes, mosques, bridges, footpaths. Seen with some abstraction, the camps are an extraordinary construction in their own right. Seemingly chaotic at first glance, there are many sorts of order and groupings within this maze-like structure. Critically, the Rohingya themselves are the primary creators of this new environment, though they are indebted to their hosts for the land and the aid community for the materials. They have built something like a city made of villages. Some refugees have found jobs or created small business' and mingle with Bangladeshis on the peripheries of the camps. In this series of photos I hope to capture scenes that describe these new communities and structures. I am not including any of the many actions of the international aid community here. I have documented Unicef's contribution in many other series
