Holding one of his guns, Joe Dean, 64, poses next to his 89 year old mother Cleo Silver at his house in Nelson, Ga, April 26, 2018. In 2013, the small city of Nelson passed a law that requires all heads of households to have a gun. But later the Brady Center filed a lawsuit against the City‚Дфs mandatory gun ownership ordinance. Afterwards the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the City of Nelson, Georgia have agreed to settle: the city recognizes the right not to own guns, and agrees not to enforce the ordinance. Yet, many residents say the crime rate, especially housebreaking, have decreased after the ordinance in 2013.
