When Bill Coperthwaite died in 2013, his will spelled out that each of the five families who were a part of Dickinson's Reach would get one of his paddles. This one is displayed in a custom leather pouch tacked to the ceiling of Peter Forbes and Helen Whybrow's yurt at Heron's Rip at Dickinson's Reach in Machiasport, Maine, on Sunday, May 27th, 2018. Coperthwaite was known for paddling his canoe standing up.
