A Thai member of staff waters and feeds the crickets on a lift in the farming area. The room is always kept dark and humid, an environment which crickets like. Cricket Lab began operation in 2018 and produces high quality cricket flour by the ton in its modern facility in Chiang Mai Province of Northern Thailand. The farm breeds the crickets themselves from eggs and grows them in plastic crates which are part of a 6m high vertical farming system. In this highly controlled environment where the crickets are kept in the dark, the company is able to meet European and US health and safety standards and export their product to western markets.
