Iraq, Mosul, April 2, 2017 Est side of the Tigris river. The archeology site Abu Yunis, where ISIS blew up a beautiful 12th-century mosque, believed to hold the tomb of the prophet Jonah. Layla Saleh is an Iraqi archaeologist who have discovered carvings dating from almost 2,000 years earlier in a network of escape tunnels dug by the extremists deep under a monument destroyed by ISIS. The discovery of a previously unknown temple and possible palace entrance, dating back to the Assyrian period and probably carved in the 5th or 6th century BC, is a rare piece of good news in the context of so much deliberate destruction and looting by Isis of pre-Islamic archaeology. La decouverte d'un precedent temple inconnu et d'une possible entree de palais, remontant r la periode assyrienne et probablement sculptee au 5cme ou 6 cme siccle avant JC, est une rare bonne nouvelle dans ce contexte de tant de destructions deliberees et de pillage de l'archeologie pre-islamique par Daesh.
