The story explores the life of Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto 'Che' Guevara (del Toro), who first trained as a doctor before becoming Fidel Castro's chief lieutenant. The story of 'The Argentine' begins as Che and a band of Cuban exiles led by Fidel Castro reach the Cuban shore from Mexico in 1956. They mobilized popular support and an army and topple the US friendly regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista.
