Guests hang out in the town square inside Glenner Town Square facility in Chula Vista, CA on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. At Glenner Town Square in San Diego there are old-fashioned rotary phones, and typewriters instead of computers. The movie theater plays Jimmy Stewart flicks. The 9,000-square-foot indoor village is surrounded by 11 storefronts, frozen in time. They are meant to represent the era from roughly 1953 to 1961 when the 80-something Alzheimerнs patients who come here were in the prime of their life. Glenner Square is the countryнs first memory-care facility built entirely around the idea of reminiscence therapy, a therapy that uses prompts from a personнs past - such as music, movies and photographers - to elicit memories and encourage conversation and activities.
