On Manpura Island in the Bhola district of Bangladesh, an adolescent girl carries mud from a pond to be used as finishing for the floor of her home. The mud is spread by hand and quickly dries to create a solid smooth surface. People who live in coastal areas move frequently as the shoreline changes and the land is unstable. Some must leave the Island in search of a more stable life. Bangladesh is seen as one of the world's most vulnerable countries to climate change. In Bangladesh, the so called "climate refugees", people who have been forced to move or lost their livelihood to events associated with climate change such as extreme weather or rising water level and soil erosion, number in the millions. Although the direct cause and effect can't always be attributed to climate change, it is safe to say that the Bangladeshis are on the front line of the impact of climate change on humanity. Manpura Island sits on the edge of the Bay of Bengal at the mouth of the Meghna River and has been deeply affected by soil erosion.
