PHOTO: EAST NEWS/AFP PHOTO Fifty-five year old Nafasgul practices walking on her prosthesis leg at the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) Orthopaedics Center in Kabul, 10 December 2001. Nafasgul lost her leg when she stepped on a mine three years ago and now has to rely on an artificial prosthesis leg to walk. Afghanistan is the most heavily mined country in the world and last year, there were 1,003 casualties in which 571 were children. The ICRC claims this year the numbers of people stepping on mines is 10 to 12 a day.
