Joseph Kallinger arrives for his trial on murder charges at a Philadelphia court, Jan. 27, 1983. Kallinger is charged with killing his teen-age son and another boy, and his attorney said he planned to call two psychiatrists to testify that Kallinger was insane when he committed the crimes. Kallinger, 47, previously had been convicted of killing a nurse in New Jersey. He was charged with killing the boys after publication last spring of "The Shoemaker," in which he told of their deaths.
