A mini surfboard sizes up to an 8 footer on a beach in Ventura, Calif., July 1968. The miniboard goes faster than the traditional surf board, turns sharper and is harder to paddle. The short surf board is selling like one would expect, and surfers call it a third-stage development in the wild sea sport which took its great leap forward in the 1950s with foam-fiberglass replacements for the wood board. Man displaying boards is unidentified. (AP Photo)
