A rest club has been opened for the troops of a British division in France where about 200 men per day can be accommodate. Men arrive in W.D. transport at 10 a.m., give up their unit pass as they come in, dump their kit in the cloakroom, have a bath, change their clothes, get some tea and the rest of the day is their own. The club, a former seaside luxury hotel, was a magnificent building, but got battered during the invasion. Men of the royal army service corps and royal engineers, however, have made it into an excellent games and bathing in the sea (as the beach has been cleared of mines). There is a field cashier for pay also a post office. A hot dinner is served at 18.30 from the well-equipped kitchen and men sit down in a spacious hall. They can walk out, if they wish; and and see the sights and enjoy French hospitality, tea is at 4.30 ??" 5.30. At the rear of the club is grand verandah, with tables and easy chairs.
