Associated Press correspondent Tom Reedy is covering the Berlin blockade by candle light in this 1948 photo. The Russians cut down the coal for the electric power plants. So power was rationed. The Germans get about four hours in 24 enough power for lighting. The Americans have power for several hours in the morning and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. In late afternoon one must use candles and late at night. (AP Photo)
