AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
This is the result of the erosive effect of wind on an unprotected field on Fred Grispentrog's farm in Boone, Nebraska, shown June 20, 1946. All of the loose soil of the northern slopes and on the level has blown away. Some of it has collected on southern slopes as shown but a good share has left the farm com lately. Engineers estimated that more soil blew off this field in one day than would normally be lost by water erosion in 3 years. (AP Photo)
