AP Historical Hard Drive 2008
Originally known as the Ethiopian Training Centre and formed in Khartoum, Sudan, on March 8, 1945, during the latter part of 1940 for the training of patriot officers by British Army personnel, the college is now situated at Hollalto, some 35 miles from Addis Ababa, in what was formerly the summer palace of emperor Menelik. The course for candidates for commissioning into the Ethiopian army now lasts 6 months and, in addition to foot drill, weapon training, battle tactis etc. Includes unit administration, leadership and care of men under their command. The college is under the direction of a British Lieutenavy-colonel, and British and Ethipian officers are on the staff of instructors but the aim of the B.M.M.E. is an ultimately purely Ethipian establishment.
