John Masefield, Poet Laureate of England and his wife, Constance de la Cherois Crommelin, are pictured aboard the Liner Mauretania, as they arrivie in New York, January 3, 1933. This is the fifth visit Masefield has made to America. The first was 40 years ago, when as a lad of 16, he came to the United States to seek his fortune. He remained two years on that visit, worked on a farm, later was employed in a New York saloon and after that in a carpet factory in Yonkers, N.Y., where he began his first important writing.
