Pacific Honolulu flier Art Goebel, who has a record of flying nine years without a mishap, nearly lost his record and life along with it while stunting before a crowd on Nov. 8, 1929. A dry cell broke loose from the cockpit of his plane while he had his ship on its back and struck him forcibly over the eye. Goebel was momentarily knocked unconscious, and the plane wobbled cout of control before he could gather himself and right it for a safe landing. (AP Photo)
