Governor Henry S. Johnston of Oklahoma, shown in 1929 photo, faced impeachment charges by the Oklahoma legislature. Oklahoma Committee of the legislature returned its report Jan.18, 1929 charging the governor with interfering with the progress of the investigation and asked his immediate suspension from office. The governor was generally charged with violation of the constitution and laws of the state, willful neglect of duty, incompetency, corruption in office and offenses involving moral turpitude.
