Rhinoceroses, at right, are among the animals depicted in this wall painting which was among the 300 prehistoric wall paintings found in a cave 1,500 feet-deep in the Ardeche River canyon in the Rhone-Alpes region of southern France, near Vallon-Pont d'Arc on December 25, 1994. The works, dating back about 20,000 years during the Paleolithic era, depict animals that existed in the region during the glacial era. The discovery was announced at a news conference at the Culture ministry Wednesday, January 18, 1995. (AP Photo/Jean Clottes)
