This undated photo shows fighter pilots George Preddy, who died when he was shot down in Europe near the end of the World War II by friendly fire from Allied gunners who mistook his P-51 Mustang for a German aircraft. Preddy Boulevard runs through south Greensboro as a section of Interstate 40/85 at the junction with U.S. 29 and follows Interstate 85 to the split with Business 85.
