On the Streets of Catania Osman (24) comes from Guinea. He had to flee from his country with his uncle, in search of a better life. In his country there are no jobs and poverty continues to kill. Their first stop of the trip was Libya. There they remained for about 3 months. Three months in hiding for fear of being caught by the police, or robbed by gang of boys, also willing to kill to rob. His experience of the boat crossing to reach Sicily, however, is tragic. Because of overcrowding in the boat, which went up with his uncle, 45 people died by asphyxiation due to lack of air. The initial chaos, in the Libyan port, has forced him to travel away from his uncle. So, arriving in Italy, after 5 days of travel, he could see him only inside a coffin. His uncle had not survived. Today, in Sicily, with his uncle in the heart, Osman is determined to continue his trip. He would like to go to Sweden to work, and in the meantime to study journalism. He would like to tell a story with a happy ending, that of the rebirth of his country and the end of the immigration. His personal history, however, will never be a happy ending story.
