Convair model over San Diego, California, USA, November 1947.The Convair Model 116/118, a flying car prototype which managed 66 test flights as a prototype but never made it into mass production. Russia: THESE INCREDIBLE colourised images throw you back in time as they give a new life to the past and their view of what the future will be. One image shows our forefathers from 75-years ago were just as obsessed with flying cars as we are, with them strapping a car to the bottom of a plane. This is the Convair model flying over San Diego, California in November 1947. The flying car prototypes managed 66 test flights but never made it into mass production. Another image shows Nikola Tesla sat with his equipment in Colorado in 1899. The image was a promotional stunt by photographer Dickenson V. Alley using double exposure. The machines sparks were firstly photographed in a darkened room, before Tesla was then photographed sitting in his chair, creating this illusion. These images were colourised by professional colouriser Angelina Karpunina (36) from Saint Petersburg, Russia. “Most of the photos are sent to me by male car collectors and car enthusiasts,” said Angelina. “I am grateful to them for their trust, and I try to meet their expectations and do a very good job. Any detail in the photo has a meaning for them. “I've been colourizing photos for almost 10 years now. I have always been interested in the unusual side of history, unusual pictures, strange inventions etc.” One image shows the 1936 Mack Armoured Car with cupola and a streamline body by Advance and W. E. Miller. It was a vision of the future, the streamline body placing it apart from other vehicles of the time. “My goal for my work is to help others with the study of history. By bringing old photos to life in colour, I hope to help make history more relatable, interesting and sometimes fun,” said Angelina. “To me, I like how they can inspire and show us that a person has always created and invented, even in
