JAKLOVCE, SLOVAKIA - AUGUST 03: A view of Ruzin freshwater reservoir as the water inside it has completely disappeared due to severe droughts according to the Slovak Water Management Company in Jaklovce, Slovakia on August 03, 2022. The reason for the decline in the levels of watercourses and reservoirs is the current dry season not only in Slovakia but throughout Europe. River levels are naturally lower during droughts. There are rivers that are completely empty during a drought. The water structures serve primarily (apart from flood protection) to store water in times of surplus and to subside the watercourses below them in times of scarcity, so as to preserve life in the river and the needs of the users such as industry, sewage treatment plants.
