Light micrograph of a normal glomerulus. A glomerulus is a capillary ball-shaped structure in the kidney that aids in the formation of urine. This sample was prepared with a paraffin H & E stain (Hematoxylin and Eosin). Five main patterns of response to damage are seen in the glomerulus: tubular pole; efferent and afferent aterioles; Bowman's capsule; and, the urinary space.
