The French Army lands in Normandy and is fighting against the Nazis, it was announced August 14,1944, by Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. This photo shows French soldiers load their gear into half tracks and other vehicles at an assembly area in England. An officer inspects the loading before the vehicles move on to a marshalling area for transportation across the English Channel to France. Trainod in the Tehad region of French Equatorial Africa, the soldiers are members of the crack regiment which in 1942 marched across the desert to join the Allics fighting in North Africa.
