Gemert, NETHERLANDS. Meningococcal disease is a disease caused by a bacterium, the Meningokok. Several types of A, B, C, W and Y are the best known types of this bacterium. Since 2015, there are more people who become seriously ill by type W and die. Boys and girls, born between 1 May 2004 and 31 December 2004, will therefore receive an invitation for a vaccination against this serious disease this year. In 2019, all the boys and girls who were born between 1 January and 30 April 2004 and the youngsters were born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005 will receive the invite.
