TOPSHOT - A picture taken in Saint Louis on 20 November, 2011 shows vehicles driving on the Faidherbe bridge. Should the statue of Faidherbe be dismantled in Lille, France, and Saint-Louis of Senegal? A few days before the bicentenary of his birth, a collective asked to remove the symbols paying tribute to the general who had conquered and colonized Senegal in the nineteenth century. In an open letter addressed to the mayor of Lille Martine Aubry, the collective "Faidherbe must fall" - a resumption of the slogan "Rhodes must fall" in South Africa - criticizes the recent restoration of the imposing equestrian statue located in the heart of the city. He is seen by some as "one of the great figures of French colonialism". / AFP PHOTO / SEYLLOU
