By up-sizing to a three-storey late Victorian house in Herne Bay on the Kent coast, artist Jo Oakley has plenty of room to display her paintings along with a varied collection of 20th century ceramics and quirky decorative artefacts. Objects from the past have always been of interest to artist Jo Oakley who maintains that little in her home was acquired brand new. A 1930's china jug that she bought for a few pence in a jumble sale when she was ten, is still a treasured possession. It was Jo's need for more space to accommodate that collection that led her to think about looking for a larger home some two years ago. 'And since moving to Herne Bay there's wall space for paintings and plenty of shelving to display my favourites pieces of china.
