Vintage French wooden champagne sign above Aga in rustic kitchen with French feel. The table is laid for tea with Victoria sponge cake and the display cupboard is from Hill & Co Home ***** When Nat and Doug Woods first viewed this cottage in the heart of rural West Sussex, they weren't fazed by its dated appearance. In fact, since deciding to buy the property in 2011, they've relished the challenge of removing the orange lino floors, old green carpets and orange pine, to breathe new life into their acquisition. Over time and on a budget, Nat, a digital marketing manager, and sales manager Doug, have lovingly transformed every inch of this home. Downstairs, they've removed walls and fitted a new kitchen to create an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. On the first floor, a new bathroom has been fitted, complete with a striking freestanding bath that was painted several times to get just the right shade. In the master bedroom, old floorboards, salvaged from a warehouse that was being demolished, have been laid. A smart new en suite has also been fitted. Nat's passion for interiors, sourcing antiques and finding beautiful, quirky pieces, plus Doug's DIY skills, have combined to create a delightful, relaxed cottage that's bursting with personality and charm.
