A press release from the Danish Royal Court has this morning announced that Princess Alexandra zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and her husband, Count Jefferson von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth, have made the decision to divorce. "It's an incredibly difficult decision. We have known each other for 30 years, but have come to a point where we must acknowledge that we have grown apart. We end our marriage, but stay together in parenthood. The whole family, but most of all the children, of course ? now after my father's death ? is in a very vulnerable situation, and we therefore ask for peace and respect about the process we are going through," the Princess said in the statement. Alexandra, the elder daughter of Princess Benedikte of Denmark, and Jefferson met as teens while attending boarding school in Germany. They were married in June 1998 and have two children, Count Richard and Countess Ingrid. 15-01-2012 Banquet Alexandra Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, Count Jefferson von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth arrive for the banquet at the Christianborg Palace.
