(1/19/2017) Debre Berhan Selassie Church in Gonder, Ethiopia. A priest at the door of the church Debre Berhan Selassie. Legend has it that when at the end of the 19th century the Sudanese dervishes attempted to destroy this church, a swarm of bees threw them out of the place, chasing them enraged, until the dervishes had no choice but to give up their attempt. Debre Berhan Selassie is an intimate church crammed with Ethiopian art. Lives of saints, martyrs and popular tradition are disputed the walls while dozens of winged cherubs return the visitor's gaze from the ceiling.
