He snapped the majestic birds showing off their moves against a backdrop of blues skies and beautiful Autumn colours at the Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre. These magnificently graceful birds of prey are unmistakable with their reddish-brown body, angled wings and deeply forked tail. In winter time you can get up to four hundred Kites circling and feeding at the Gigrin at one time, providing an amazing spectacle as they demonstrate their striking feats of aerial dexterity. The Red Kite was persecuted to near extinction but in recent years they've made a remarkable comeback thanks to a major conservation drive across the UK. At one time confined to Wales, a reintroduction scheme has brought them back to many parts of England and Scotland.
