Darvaza, Turkmenistan, march 26, 2007
The Darvaza gas crater in the Karakum desert is one of Turkmenistan's most unusual sights. An accident during Soviet-era gas exploration in the 1950s, set this crater alight. Since that time, the fire blazes with an incredible strenght that's visible from miles away.
