Pictured: The kingfisher. A hungry kingfisher makes a splash as it spectacularly emerges from the water with its lunch secured tightly in its beak. The pretty bird continued to dart back into the water at high speeds to catch more fish while displaying its stunning orange and blue feathers. One shot shows the water reflecting the hungry bird as it opens up its wings and emerges from the stream. The pictures of the kingfisher catching minnows were taken by wildlife photographer Ron McCombe in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire. Mr McCombe, 61, from Coldstream in Berwickshire on the Scottish border, said the bird caught the fish for himself and to take back to his nest for its young. SEE OUR COPY FOR MORE DETAILS.
