Four-poster bed with tweed thow in bedroom with pair of armchairs and bay window with linen blinds Situated in picturesque Kirkcudbright, a town much loved by Scottish artists, Kirk House was bought recently by interior designer Jane and her husband, a British diplomat. The house built in typical Scottish style by a successful local businessman, was exactly what the couple had spent months searching for; affordable, in need of updating, with a large garden in a lovely part of the UK, close to the sea and large enough to be a B&B - Jenny's husband loves to cook so it will be D,B&B if he has his way. Whilst he continued running the consulate in Milan, Jenny stayed in Scotland and with just one local builder transformed the house. Working to a budget, she sourced everything either on the internet or from local auctions. Having lived in Norway for 20 years and then 5 years in Morocco, Jenny's style blends simple Scandinavian with accents of exotic colour and texture. The B&B will open in Spring 2011 after her husband has retired from diplomatic life. Her online antique textiles and accessories business, is run from her lovely sewing room.
