Color enhanced TEM of negatively stained Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas are a genus of small, motile, gram-negative bacilli with polar flagella. Most are saprophytic, living in soil and decomposing organic matter. P. aeruginosa is sometimes pathogenic for man, causing urinary tract infections or otitis externa.
