Slegooning is the world's first full-contact mountain sport - Jan 2010
Here's an adrenalin-fuelled way to enjoy the current snowy conditions.
Slegooning is the world's first full-contact mountain sport which sees competitors hurtling down slopes in ultra-tough SHELLS.
Designer Spike Reid explains: "Up to twenty people are released in Slegoons are released like greyhounds from the top of the mountain and it is a full contact, no-holds-barred race to the bottom of the mountain, avoiding trees, rocks and spectators on the way."
The Slegoon is centred around a bucket seat with a five-point harness, sat low in the craft on suspension to keep the centre of gravity close to the snow.
The lightweight body allows brave-hearted competitors to race down the mountain at speeds of up to 50mph with roll bars for protection and clever runners that allow the Slegoon to continue towards the finish line even whilst overturned.
