A fish is toasted and speared by a bird using its beak like a pair of chopsticks grabbing a piece of food. The darter was seen tossing the fish and spearing it at the Singapore Quarry near Bukit Batok, Singapore. Aviation regulator Liew Tong Leng, 55, said, "I was at the Singapore Quarry to look for birds to photograph and the darter appeared in hunting mode. Anticipating the hunt, I was able to capture the whole sequence of tossing and swallowing of the fishes it caught." "The darters or snakebirds are mainly tropical waterbirds which is not very commonly seen in Singapore. The darters feed mainly on mid-sized fish and there were many of these fish at the Singapore Quarry. The images I took show the darter catching the fish and tossing it up several times before swallowing it. It looks like the darter is positioning the fish to be swallowed." "The darter uses its sharply pointed bill to impale animals it sees as food. In these images almost using it beak like a pair of chopsticks. This is a rare set of darter fishing images which took years of photographing birds to achieve."
