Running on water.
JOYFUL images of an egret dancing like no one is watching have been captured.
Images show the Reddish egret living its best life, frolicking in the water, in Sarasota Bay, Florida.
All the while trying to hunt down a fishy snack through its dynamic dance moves.
Reddish egrets are large, powerfully built, elegant herons.
They have long, sturdy legs, long necks, and thick, daggerlike bills.
The feathers on the head and neck are often extended, giving a shaggy appearance.
These birds chase fish energetically through shallow saltwater environments and this species is known for its acrobatic hunting stunts.
The bird often lifts its wings up to scare the fish and direct it one way or the other.
It will also jump and make abrupt U-turns to corner its meal, resulting in a spectacular hunting dance.
These pictures were taken by Steven Blandin (42) a Bird Photography Tours Leader from Sarasota.
“It was hard to keep up with the bird, as I was running with my equipment to try to keep pace with the egret’s dance, I almost tripped myself a couple of times,” he told mediadrumworld.com.
“I was very thrilled to have captured these unique moments.
“I particularly enjoyed the crazy stances of the bird.”
