Bride saves over Ł1,000 buying NINE bridesmaid dresses on VINTED for just Ł44
A woman has shared how she saved Ł1,000 by buying her bridesmaid dresses from Vinted – with the entire bridal party dressed head-to-toe in second-hand clothing.
Ayla Winter-White, 25, got engaged while on holiday with her soon-to-be husband Josh Dennis, 29, but the duo were horrified when they realised how expensive their nuptials would be.
The bride from Berkshire decided to take the words “something old” from the famous wedding phrase and really turn it on its head.
Instead of forking out for new bridesmaid dresses, shoes, veil and decor, she turned to Vinted.
And Ayla has already saved a small fortune.
“When we started planning our wedding, we realised how much everything costs,” she told What'\''s The Jam.
“So we looked around at buying secondhand and it was a no-brainer.
“My theme is black chiffon, so with it being quite unique I was worried I wouldn’t find anything to match.
“However, while scouring Vinted one evening, I came across the perfect [bridesmaid] dresses.
“Some of them had been worn once, some a couple more, but [it’s] nothing a quick wash can’t solve!”
Ayla purchased nine dresses in total for just Ł44 – saving herself just over Ł1,000.
She said: “Each of them would have been Ł119 new and some even came with the tags on.
“I ordered a few extras with different sizes so my girls got the ‘trying on dresses'\'' experience.
“They got to try on a couple each and swap around until they were comfortable.
“They’re also all different styles, still black chiffon, but similar.
“But this way everyone has something that suits them.
“And with them all coming to less than one in most places… I couldn'\''t be happier!”
The couple, who have two children together – a nine-month-old girl and two-year-old boy – are also saving on the wedding shoes, veil and decor by purchasing the products second-hand.
Ayla said: “We also have family members who have been in the wedding industry, who are helping with the cake and flowers for free.”
Some of the other items that the bride has bought include a pair of heels from Rainbow Club.
Usually sold at Ł90, she got them for a bargain Ł4.50, and claims the owner only wore them for one hour.
She also bought her veil, which is sold at Ł299, for Ł30 on Vinted.
Ayla has also purchased a hair piece for her wedding hair.
It cost just Ł6 – brand new in the box – from Lace and Favour and retails on their website for Ł76.
Josh, 29, who works as a personal assistant, is also happy with the bargains.
Thanks to these savvy purchases, the couple estimate to save around Ł7,000 on the wedding in total.
He said: “I think money towards my kids or savings is better spent than all on one day.
“Our wedding day will still look exactly how we want – which we wouldn’t have been able to afford to do if buying everything brand new!”
The couple are set to wed in September 2025.
Ayla added: “I feel accomplished!
“We are going to have the dream wedding, but on a budget, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
